JUNKYARD NOTES

Many thanks to Mistyrose Zenovka for being our Intan "Couples Dance" Person. She loads all our couples dances for us and often contributes new dances (and the occasional kiss animation) to the club.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HOST
A JUNKYARD DJ SHOW?

Junkyard Blues features about 70 hours of DJ music a week involving about 30 DJs and about 20 hosts on the regular schedule. We almost always have two or three DJs who need hosts, either because they just started at the Junkyard or because their current host can no longer be there for the show.  DJ Hosting at Junkyard Blues takes 2 hours of your time once a week (or more if you wish).  Junkyard hosts are officers of the group and in charge of the club during their DJ time, so there is a responsibility to the club as well as the commitment to helping the DJ.  IM Richardina Petty if interested.

Fiery-Chess 3 smaller2.jpg THANK YOU, FIERY
Fiery Otaared has been in the Junkyard Blues news a lot lately.  She is so supportive and does so much around here that it became way past time to acknowledge her more fully in these pages.

Recently, in addition to bringing Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, and the Nighthawks to Junkyard Blues, she is responsible for making our live music fund raiser into a stunning success, and has also reinvented Junkyard Blues Radio which she manages and sustains with all the resources of Fiery Otaared's Blues Vault at her disposal.

Fiery's shows are every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday starting at 6 pm SLT. Come listen to this blues heart and soul.  (3/8/10)

Iron Profile 7 18 09 - 2.jpg IRON HANGS UP
THE HEADPHONES
AND IS MISSED

As most of you know our good friend Irongut McCallister has retired from his long run as a popular Second Life DJ and from his Ironclad Radio streams.

In the old days Iron was the first DJ to ever do a show at Junkyard Blues, and, in recent times, he has liberated us from unreliable internet blues stations by launching our first ever club music stream. With Iron’s retirement we were lucky enough to have DJ Fiery Otaared step in as both the manager and the workforce of Junkyard Blues Radio, streaming to the Junkyard 24/7 out of her “blues vault.”

Remembering Iron, I posted these words on his website. Looking at them again, I feel that they belong here on our site as well and that my sentiments will be shared by many others:

“Dina and I have been remembering the old days when Iron and Stormy arrived at the Junkyard for the first time, still pretty new to Second Life. We were immediately captivated along with so many others who came to appreciate them as warm and genuine people. We were lucky enough to have Iron as our very first DJ at Junkyard Blues, and we will miss him now that “Green Onions” has been played there one last time.

Thank you for sharing yourself with us, Ironman. Thank you for your music, your enthusiasm, and your friendly and generous spirit. We’ve groaned happily at those many renditions of “Happy Birthday,” and we’ve been left smiling so often by your exuberance and humor. It is a heartfelt privilege to know you.”
